The VERY close encounter of a Chinese lumberjack

​In 1994, a Chinese lumberjack named Meng Zhaoguo from Heilongjiang province reported an extraordinary encounter that has since become one of China’s most infamous UFO incidents. Meng claimed to have witnessed a UFO crash, experienced an abduction, and engaged in what he perceived as intimate contact with an extraterrestrial being.

A Glowing Light over Phoenix Mountain

In May 1994, Meng Zhaoguo was working as a laborer at the Hongqi Forestry Farm, located deep within the heavily wooded and mountainous Wuchang region of Heilongjiang province. This area, bordering Russia and the vast Siberian wilderness, is known for its natural beauty, dense forests, and isolated mountain ranges — especially Phoenix Mountain (凤凰山), which has long been regarded as mysterious by locals due to unexplained disappearances, strange animal sightings, and legends dating back generations.

At the time, Meng was a 26-year-old, living with his wife and young child in modest housing provided by the state-run forestry farm. Life was hard but simple.
