The Phoenix Lights Incident Still Haunts Witnesses over 27 Years Later
What were the lights seen (and filmed) by thousands across Arizona?
On the evening of March 13, 1997, one of the most famous and well-documented UFO sightings in history occurred over the skies of Arizona, Nevada, and the Mexican state of Sonora. Known as the Phoenix Lights, this extraordinary event involved thousands of eyewitnesses, multiple video recordings, and a wave of speculation that continues to this day.
The Phoenix Lights incident involved two distinct events observed by thousands of people across hundreds of miles. The first sighting, reported between 7:30 PM and 10:30 PM MST, was of a V-shaped formation of lights moving in unison across the sky. Witnesses described the formation as massive, silent, and gliding smoothly. Some even claimed that they could see a solid structure connecting the lights, making it appear as though it was one large craft rather than separate objects.
